Don’t be their puppet.
It’s time to stay safe while working remotely.
01
Keep your company laptop safe
- Don’t allow family members to use it.
- Don’t leave it unattended after finishing work for the day.
- Lock away your laptop when not in use.
- If you have to travel, don’t leave your laptop in the car. Lock it in the trunk or carry it with you.
02
Stay virus-free
- Don’t insert any USB or storage devices that have not been properly scanned by Anti-virus software into your laptop.
- Don’t install or download an attachment from any e-mail without consulting with your local IT department first.
03
Be skeptical of
- Emails with [EXT] in the subject line and [EXTERNAL MAIL] in the email body text. Emails could potentially be from untrusted sources.
- Emails claiming to link to anything related to the current Corona virus crisis.
- Emails containing attachments.
- Emails asking you to install new software, or linking you to unauthorised remote access meetings.
- Any email linking you to a page where you have to enter your password or info – only do so if it is from a source that you trust.
04
Don’t fall for
- Pop-ups claiming to link you to latest Corona news.
- Fake websites set up by cybercriminals to gain an advantage over the vulnerable during the Corona crisis.
05
Consider alternatives
- Limit your use of the VPN access if you’re only working in Office365, unless directed by your regional Service Desk Team, to avoid congesting our infrastructure & network.
- Allow for delays due to increased network congestion.
- Consider the urgency of your IT request. Our service desk is currently receiving an increased number of calls.
06
Practise safe physical distancing
- If you work from a physical site, do not walk up to an IT employee for assistance, use the service help desk process instead.
Don’t be a puppet for cybercriminals!
Report any suspicious activity to your local IT department or send an email to PhishingReport@sappi.com.
